UNDER THE SKIN (Jonathan Glazer)

As strange and hypnotic as its main protagonist, an alien disguised as a human driving around working-class Glasgow in Scotland, preying on on lone men to rob them of their ….. essence. Originally conceived as a much broader story with a bigger budget, its very limitations (hidden camera cinematography, a minimalist score by Mica Levi) make the film mysterious and riveting. A beautifully restrained performance by Scarlet Johansson in another thoroughly original film from Jonathan Glazer.
