Sometimes serious, sometimes loopy. We are in Martin McDonagh territory here. Tragicomedy at its best. Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson are hitmen hiding out here. Fourteen years later, the duo would square off in McDonagh’s BANSHEES OF INISHERIN. Ralph Fiennes is devastating in support.

Oliver Stone’s comic but pointed take on the bumbling rise and stumble of George W. Bush looks positively tame now that we have a President that beats Bush at the incompetence game at every turn. Still, it’s quite clever and well worth a look. Even if Adam McKay did take the genre one step further ten years later with his brilliant VICE (2018).
